Privacy Policy for BookMarker
Effective Date: November 24, 2025
1. Data Collection
BookMarker collects and processes the following data strictly for the purpose of the extension's core functionality:
- Page Data: The URL, page title, and favicon of pages you explicitly bookmark.
- Scroll Position: The vertical scroll position (
window.scrollY) of bookmarked pages to allow for the "resume reading" feature. - Browsing Activity: The extension checks the URL of visited pages against your locally stored bookmarks to update scroll positions automatically.
2. Data Storage
- Local Only: All data is stored locally on your device using the Chrome
storage.localAPI. - No External Transmission: No data is transmitted to external servers, analytics services, or third parties. The extension operates entirely offline.
3. Data Usage
We use the collected data solely to:
- Save and organize your bookmarks.
- Restore your reading position when you revisit a bookmarked URL.
4. Permissions
- Host Permissions (
<all_urls>): Required to detect when you visit a bookmarked page and to inject the script that tracks your scroll position. - Scripting: Used to capture the current scroll position when a bookmark is created.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the Chrome Web Store or an in-extension notification.
